I am neither a specialized researcher nor a religious leader. I am an ordinary office worker, yet having passed the midpoint of my life in my 50s, I have decided to revisit the wisdom left to us by our ancestors—the “hints for living better” found within Buddhism, philosophy, and the classics.
The world is full of wisdom that can slightly improve ourselves and our surroundings. Rather than simply accumulating this as raw knowledge, I want to “re-tell and internalize” these ideas in my own words, sharing them to contribute to making the world a little better.
Whether it is a global-scale issue or a small personal struggle, at the root, everything connects to the fundamental question: “How should we live as human beings?” By learning the fair ethics needed to envision an ideal world from the wisdom of all ages and places, I hope to reweave these teachings into practical wisdom for those of us living today.
I hope that the reflections shared here will someday contribute to someone’s peace of mind. I would be delighted if you could join me in enjoying this endless inquiry, keeping a calm mind and staying at ease.
